CBSE Board Exams 2025: Practical exams begin today, guidelines issued for schools
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun the annual practical examinations, internal assessments and project assessments for Class 10 and Class 12 for the academic session 2024-25 from January 1.

The board has issued guidelines for schools and directed schools to strictly follow the guidelines and ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the examinations. For clarifications, CBSE has asked schools to contact regional offices “well in time”.

CBSE Class 10, 12 Practical Exams: Guidelines for Schools

  • Schools must confirm the availability of adequate practical answer sheets. Any shortage must be reported immediately to the concerned CBSE regional office.
  • Schools are required to inform students and parents about the practical exam schedule to ensure compliance with the board’s instructions.
  • Schools must ensure that laboratories are adequately equipped and prepared with the required infrastructure, materials and equipment for the examinations.
  • External examiners appointed by CBSE must be contacted well in advance to ensure seamless conduct of assessments.
  • Arrangements must be made for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) so that they can attend practical examinations seamlessly.
  • Students must take their practical examinations as per the schedule laid down by the school within the stipulated period of January 1 to February 14, 2025.
  • Schools must upload marks on the day of the examination itself. Internal and external examiners are jointly responsible for ensuring accuracy, as no corrections can be made after uploading.
  • Schools must check the maximum marks for each subject before awarding and uploading the marks. Principals are reminded that corrections after the result will not be accepted.
  • Examiners must ensure that marks are awarded based on the performance of students during assessment.
  • Answer sheets now include an undertaking requiring examiners to confirm the maximum marks and follow all CBSE instructions.
  • Students involved in national or international sports will not be exempted from practical exams, nor will separate arrangements be made for them.
  • For Class 12, only external examiners appointed by CBSE are authorised to conduct practical exams. Any violation will lead to cancellation of assessment.
  • Schools failing to follow CBSE guidelines risk having their practical exams cancelled.
  • Schools must complete all practical assessments by February 14, 2025. Principals are advised to monitor the progress from February 1, so that marks can be uploaded on time.

CBSE has also released the board exam date sheet for Class 10 and 12. Class 10 and Class 12 exams will begin from February 15, 2025. Class 10 exams will begin on February 15 with the English paper and Class 12 exams will begin with the Entrepreneurship exam on the first day.

Conclusion:

As the CBSE Board Exams 2025 practical exams commence today, schools are advised to follow the newly issued guidelines to ensure smooth and organized conduct. These steps will help mitigate any challenges and guarantee the safety and well-being of students while ensuring academic integrity. Students and educators alike should stay updated on these instructions for a hassle-free examination experience.
