As per the original plan, Bangladesh was set to play the West Indies, Italy, and England in Kolkata before traveling to Mumbai to face Nepal. However, these plans were thrown into doubt following a controversial decision involving Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
The situation intensified when an IPL-related directive required the Kolkata Knight Riders to release the Bangladeshi bowler, a move that reportedly heightened security concerns back home. In response, Bangladesh went a step further by imposing a ban on the Indian Premier League broadcast—an unprecedented move since the league’s inception in 2008.
Pakistan Enters the Conversation
Adding another layer of complexity, the Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly offered to host Bangladesh’s matches if neither India nor Sri Lanka proves viable.
