What Makes the Toolkit Unique?
Developed through years of classroom experience and research, the ‘Count on Me’ maths toolkit is a comprehensive learning aid that has already been adopted by 50 schools in Chennai. The kit is structured to help children gradually build confidence in mathematics through:
- 64 graded, colour-coded booklets covering core mathematical operations.
- Step-by-step concept reinforcement using repetition, visual engagement, and assessments.
- Functional assessment checklists to help teachers identify skill gaps and personalize learning.
- Practical task sets with video tutorials for hands-on understanding.
- Comprehensive teacher e-manual to support effective planning and classroom implementation.
A Vision for Inclusive Learning
Speaking about the launch, Chandrasekhar—who graduated in 1970 with a B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT-Madras—emphasized the importance of making learning enjoyable.
“This toolkit is designed not just for improvement, but to make mathematics enjoyable and accessible for all students,” he said.
Transforming Classrooms
The toolkit reflects MDA’s unwavering commitment to inclusive education. By blending visual learning, repetition, and structured practice, ‘Count on Me’ ensures mastery of mathematical concepts at every stage. It allows teachers to move beyond traditional methods and adopt a more personalized approach that addresses the unique needs of each child.
The Road Ahead
With its adoption in multiple schools already, the ‘Count on Me’ toolkit is expected to play a pivotal role in reshaping how mathematics is taught to children with learning challenges. MDA’s initiative not only promotes academic success but also builds confidence and joy in learning, proving that with the right tools, every child can shine.
