Launched in the academic year 2014-15, the Ishan Uday scheme continues to empower youth from the Northeast by awarding up to 10,000 scholarships every year. These scholarships are applicable for students pursuing full-time undergraduate studies — whether general, technical, vocational, medical, or paramedical — at recognized colleges and universities across India.
For the 2025 cycle, applications are now open through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and will close on October 31, 2025.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025, applicants must:
Be a permanent resident of one of the eight Northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, or Tripura.
Have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in the academic year immediately preceding the application.
Be enrolled in the first year of a full-time undergraduate course (general or vocational stream) in any recognized institution.
Have a total annual family income of not more than ₹4.5 lakh.
Transgender students are eligible under the scheme.
Reservations will be applicable as per Government of India norms.
Not Eligible:
Students pursuing education via distance or open learning.
Students admitted under management quota.
Students already receiving other scholarships.
Students pursuing diploma courses.
💰 Financial Assistance Provided
The Ishan Uday Scholarship offers direct monthly financial support via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT):
₹5,400 per month for students in general degree programs.
₹7,800 per month for students in technical, medical, paramedical, or vocational programs.
